The Bharatiya Janata Party seeked the Election Commission's intervention as it accused the Congress of playing “communal cards” to woo Muslim voters. The party claimed the state's chief electoral officer was not acting on its complaints. The delegation was led by Union Minister and former BJP President Nitin Gadkari. He alleged Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge of seeking votes for their party in the name of Islam.
